About the role
The London Institute for Healthcare Engineering (LIHE) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Event Officer to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring the successful planning, coordination, and execution of events, workshops, conferences, and seminars that support the Institute's mission of advancing healthcare innovation.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and communication skills, a background in hospitality or event management, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will work closely with the operational manager, internal stakeholders, and external partners, to deliver impactful and memorable events that enhance the visibility and reach of our mission.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract for 3 years in the first instance. This role will require full-time working on site, 5 days/week.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent, with proven experience in events management, hospitality, or a related field.
2. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events simultaneously, from small seminars to large international conferences.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
4. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and event management software/tools (e.g., Eventbrite, Cvent).
5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
6. Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
7. Experience working in or alongside the hospitality or events industry, with a strong focus on customer service.
8. Professional and confident when liaising with senior stakeholders, sponsors, and VIP guests.
Desirable criteria
1. Previous experience in Higher Education
2. Previous experience in the healthcare, academic, or non-profit sectors
3. Experience with social media and event marketing strategies
4. Working knowledge of using Audio Visual equipment
