The role of neonatal HCSW is to support the delivery of high quality safe care to babies and their families. The HCSW will be a competent individual working as a member of the neonatal team at Wrexham Maelor hospital. Following appropriate competency-based training; the HCSW will work with in/direct supervision of a registered nurse but will be guided by the nurses' expertise.

1. To be part of a team that provides high quality family integrated care to babies and their families.

1. NVQ Level 3 in Health or a willingness to work towards.

1. BFI Certificate.
Knowledge

1. Knowledge of Units / Health Board's policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of life support in adults and neonates, manual handling, fire policy, infection control, safeguarding adults and children.
3. Knowledge of health and safety.
4. Aware of role within a multi-disciplinary team.
5. Knowledge of equality, diversity, and human rights.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of essential requirements of neonatal nursing.
2. Knowledge of child development, parental skills and nutrition.
Experience

1. Band 3 HCSW experience in a health care setting.
2. Evidence of continuing professional development. Evidence of mandatory training.
