About the Role:
My client, a leader in the nuclear industry, is seeking an experienced Pressure and Vacuum Vessel Engineer with SC clearance for an exciting 18-month contract. You will support the Pressure Vessel Technical Authority, as part of a small team, underwriting the design, manufacture and certification of bespoke Pressure and Vacuum equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide expert technical support for the approval of bespoke pressure and vacuum equipment (static & dynamic).
2. Review and verify design requirements, engineering drawings, and calculations.
3. Conduct conformity assessments at contractor sites across the UK.
4. Resolve design and manufacturing issues with internal and external stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, with associate membership of an appropriate institute or chartered status preferred.
Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of Mechanical Engineering practices and Pressure Equipment Regulations.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in the design and manufacture of pressure and vacuum systems, with working knowledge of relevant codes (e.g., PD5500, ASME III, ASME VIII Division 1 2&3, BS EN 13445, BS EN 13480, ASME B31.3).
Quality Assurance:
Experience in creating and approving Quality Control Plans and Inspection and Test Plans.
Analytical Skills:
Ability to carry out independent analysis, including Pressure Vessel Code calculations, Fracture Mechanics, Fatigue Analysis, and Finite Element Analysis.
Essential:
Full driving licence, as travel to external manufacturing sites is required.
