Proactive Personnel are currently searching for an Engineering Manager for an international manufacturing company working in the food and beverage industry. This is a permanent full-time position; our client is one of the largest manufacturers of fragrances, food coloring, and flavorings working with some of the world’s biggest brands.
Main purpose of the Engineering Manager position:
1. Lead the maintenance team to ensure preventative maintenance of all equipment.
2. Manage contractors when specialized skills or additional people are required.
3. Key areas of responsibility: safety and environmental compliance, energy utilization, production yield/waste, production cycle time, and associate and equipment utilization.
4. Responsibility for the plant in Plant Manager absence.
General Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for ensuring that work done in the engineering area is completed quickly and safely, minimizing downtime, with high-quality results, effective cost management, and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
2. Responsible for helping to lead the Continuous Improvement Program for the Manchester plant, including identifying and implementing best practices from anywhere in the company system.
3. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy working environment and leading the safety management programs, including work with the location’s safety teams and committees.
4. Supports environmental compliance from an Engineering perspective.
5. Responsible for overseeing plant improvement projects (justification, priority, and specification). Ensures that facilities are maintained and improved as required, including general appearance and that routine maintenance is completed as required.
6. Works with Plant Manager to ensure that GMP, Security systems, BRC standards, and Preventive Maintenance standards are met.
7. Manages any statutory inspections, liaises with insurance companies, and other duties in this area.
8. Direct reporting responsibility for any engineering firms or contractors working on Manchester plant. Currently holds direct reporting responsibility for technicians.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the engineering of new equipment installations, process innovations using capex procedures.
2. Updating current maintenance system – effective tool.
3. PSSR system & responsibilities and LOLER.
4. 5 – 10 year plan for Plant CAPEX – currently 26 years old.
5. Ensure technical drawings are up to date with support from external contractor (CAD).
6. Interlock Procedures – review of extensive handbook documents.
Requirements:
1. Experience in technical and engineering functions.
2. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in (Maintenance/Electrical) Engineering.
3. 8 – 10 years experience in chemical industry and/or Food Manufacturing.
4. Previous experience of leading a maintenance team.
5. Experience in defining, planning, and managing project work.
6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
7. Basic AutoCAD knowledge, ability to develop and update CAD drawings.
8. Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively; demonstrated strong judgment.
9. Experience with process manufacturing equipment including: boilers, pressure vessels, pumps, dryers, Effluent Treatment, and automated control systems.
10. Continuous improvement project experience.
11. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with pressured deadlines.
12. Computerized maintenance experience.
