Due to an increased workload and demand, we are currently recruiting for a Weighbridge Operative to join the team, typically covering our quarries in Low Plains, Moota, Roan Edge, Shap, and Carlisle Asphalt Plant.
The successful candidate will effectively and efficiently carry out all duties associated with the operation and manning of the weighbridge, including transport and customer coordination for a busy framework on the strategic network.
Please be aware that the role will involve shift working, including days/nights and weekends, so you should be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work and be able to remain calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Booking in and out of all vehicles on sites (multiple).
2. Directing goods inwards to correct stockpile/location and liaising with the site team.
3. Controlling the entry to the site of all customers, vehicles, and visitors.
4. Ensuring the general working of the weighbridge area, including the upkeep and cleanliness of equipment and workstations.
5. Following training, undertaking a variety of site inspections (Environmental and/or Health and Safety), reporting defects and issues to the site manager.
6. Customer Service
7. Customer liaison on any item that may affect customer service, including keeping customers aware of any delays.
8. Ensuring customer accounts are in order before customers are permitted to load.
9. Asphalt Plant programming and transport coordination across multiple sites when working on the network.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
1. Excellent communication skills, including oral communication, especially with customers on the telephone as well as in person with delivery personnel and drivers.
2. Organised and analytical in order to successfully operate the Weighbridge computer package.
3. Confidence and interpersonal skills are important in order to deal with a diverse range of contacts.
4. Team player and great organiser who can think logically and critically during a demanding workload.
5. Previous experience in this type of role would be a distinct advantage, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
6. Good numeracy skills are required for quick and accurate data processing.
