Job Description:
SWA are a specialist domestic abuse charity, who have been proudly operating since 1974, and are one of the leading domestic abuse charities in Sheffield. SWA support hundreds of women and children every year and will continue to work to end violence against women and children. SWA believe that women and children have a right to live their lives free from all forms of violence and abuse.
In this role you will support children and young people living within our refuges by providing structure, individualised support, play and activities to support them to recover from the impact of trauma and abuse. The role is based in our support team, where you will work alongside colleagues offering support to parents and children.
The successful candidate will have:
* Experience of working with / supporting children who have experienced trauma;
* Awareness of safety planning and risk assessing;
* An understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on the lives of women and children;
* Experience of safeguarding procedures and processes (both children and adults);
* Awareness of working within a multi-agency environment / liaising with external agencies;
* Excellent communication and record keeping skills;
* Ability to use ICT;
* Ability to work on a rota including early (08:30 - 4:30) and later (11:00 - 19:00) shifts;
* Willingness to participate in an On-Call rota providing out of hours support (approx 1 week in every 8 - 10) - additional payment will be received for on-call duties;
* A full driving licence and access to a car (this would be preferable but not essential - non-drivers would need to demonstrate ability to access work bases via public transport or other means).
