We have an amazing opportunity for a WasteWater Treatment Plant Operative role, and we are looking to welcome an enthusiastic person to join our ABP Sturminster team!
ABP Sturminster is based in Sturminster Newton in Dorset and has the advantage of being a small site, but part of a large and reputed company ABP UK which is part of ABP Food Group operating all over Europe.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for providing support activities to site facility Engineering, H&S and Environmental functions ensuring full site compliance to include all effluent treatment plant compliance.
To ensure that work is completed to deadlines and in accordance with environmental and food safety regulations and any other legislation in force and relevant at the time.
Work Hours are 7.00-16.00 (1 hour lunch break), Monday to Friday.

The role involves:
* Ensure the site effluent treatment plant and associated equipment is operated to its maximum efficiency and within Environmental Agency consent levels, including MCerts responsibilities on discharge monitoring.
* Carry out regular cleaning of the effluent plant, associated equipment and surrounding yard areas as detailed in SOP WWTP 2.10, including pre-start checks.
* Carry out regular testing of the effluent discharge water to ensure discharges are within consent levels as per SOP and WWTP operating guide.
* Complete reports associated with running WWTP according to SOP 2.10.
* Ensure all external areas of responsibility are maintained to ABP's standards, including but not limited to cleaning of the bund, tanks, and all yard areas adjacent to the WWTP.
* Ensure surface water monitoring points (SWMP) are checked daily.
* Keep the drainage system operational and unblock drains in the yard.
* Assist with site waste collection and recycling activities; forklift training/licence to be given.
* Carry out all basic maintenance in the WWTP (training will be given) and assist the Engineering team with maintenance and repairs when possible.
* Assist H&S Manager to ensure Environmental Site compliance and all tasks for the plant are complied with.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned to respond to the business needs.

Skills:
Experience in environmental and earth sciences, environmental engineering, or relevant field is advantageous.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to follow detailed operating procedures with a high degree of attention to detail.
The candidate will follow instructions including those relating to personal Health and Safety and the wearing of PPE.
The ideal candidate will be organised, reliable, willing to learn, and have a positive can-do attitude using their own initiative.
WTPO tasks are fast-paced, require a substantial amount of physical ability, and will take place in an outdoor environment.
