Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is currently looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our dedicated Stroke Unit. We are proud to have consistently achieved an A-rated service since August 2016 according to the SSNAP (Stroke Sentinel National Audit Programme) and are recognised as one of the top 10 trusts in the country and the best in the East Midlands.
Our Stroke Unit is a 35-bedded, multi-disciplinary team (MDT) environment that provides the highest standard of care to patients who have experienced a stroke. The unit consists of 6 hyper-acute level 2 acuity beds and 29 recovery beds. We admit patients directly from the emergency department and provide thrombolysis treatment. In addition, we arrange mechanical thrombectomy procedures when necessary. After acute care, patients receive ongoing rehabilitation in the ward and where appropriate will receive care in the community through our Early Supported Discharge team.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide excellent, patient-centered care to stroke patients including administering medications, managing treatments and providing emotional support to patients and families.
2. Contribute to and collaborate with the MDT to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.
3. Monitor and assess patients' conditions, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
4. Deliver rehabilitation and supportive care to stroke patients both on the ward and as part of the Early Supported Discharge team.
5. Participate in the ongoing development of the Stroke Unit, maintaining high standards.
