Job Description
Protection & Control Engineer required for a major Transmission client based in Scotland.
Responsibilities:
1. Assess and define the technical scope of protection and control requirements for new build substations and modifications to existing ones.
2. Prepare outline scheme designs, key line diagrams, protection setting calculations, and setting files for relays, supporting the implementation of IEC61850 solutions.
3. Review third-party contractor/consultant detailed designs, witness FAT, and provide support for field teams to ensure quality of installations.
4. Evaluate tenders and procure/manage specialist services from consultants.
5. Support multi-disciplinary project teams in identifying and managing engineering risks, as well as identifying opportunities for project excellence.
Requirements:
* Qualified to a minimum of HND level in Electrical Engineering.
* Demonstrable technical skills in Transmission protection and control specification and scheme design, including the ability to calculate protection settings for implementation.
* Confidence to assess engineering problems technically and critically evaluate a range of solutions.
* Good communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate diligence, prioritize tasks, and understand relevant legislation such as CDM and ESQCR, and their implications for Transmission network management.
* Ideally, candidates should be Chartered Engineers or working towards this qualification.
* Ideally, experience with Protection & Control Engineering on UK projects.
