Modus is an independently owned, highly respected, award-winning, contemporary furniture brand with a thoughtful approach to furniture design. We develop, manufacture and supply our own collection to the global contract furniture market.

Role summary

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for generating new business and expanding our market presence in the North of England, Ireland & Scotland. This role involves developing relationships with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will drive revenue growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and partners.
The role involves identifying and developing commercial opportunities by enthusiastic and passionate storytelling about our product and brand to influence product selection throughout the specification process.

* Develop and execute a business growth strategy for the assigned regions, to grow existing and new client bases. Identify, prospect, and build relationships with resellers, end clients, A&D practices, and third-party specifiers.
* Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers, including designers, purchasers, project managers, and influencers.
* Manage the commercial relationship with strategic partners and ensure alignment with business goals.
* Proactively identify new business opportunities through networking, market research, and social media.
* Prepare and present compelling business proposals, tenders, and marketing materials that align with brand positioning.
* Maintain and manage a healthy sales pipeline, ensuring consistent revenue growth and achieving sales targets.
* Own the day-to-day relationship and be the primary point of contact for your accounts at all levels.
* Represent the brand effectively by organising and participating in lunch-and-learn sessions, showroom visits, and industry events.
* Ensure clients are regularly updated on new product introductions, events, and relevant company news.
* Organise training for clients on product technical knowledge to ensure they are kept informed.
* Maintain accurate records of all client interactions, opportunities, and deals within the CRM system to support marketing and sales efforts.
* Research competitors, industry trends, and market activities to stay ahead of industry developments and enhance strategic decision-making.
* Host and participate in client showroom-based social events and visits to key regional practices in the Northern regions, Ireland, Scotland and other relevant locations.
Core Skills & Competencies

* Ideally a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience within the furniture industry with existing contacts in the relevant territory, in D&B, Dealer and A&D accounts.
* Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and delivering revenue growth. Strong networking abilities and well-connected within the industry.
* Expertise at selling into the design and workplace sectors. Proficiency in IT systems, CRM software, and digital marketing tools.
* Methodical and analytical with strong numeric skills.
* Full, clean driving license and willingness to travel within the assigned regions, including overnight stays when necessary.
* Persuasive, articulate and able to influence people at all levels.
* Self-motivated with a highly driven and persuasive sales personality that delivers quantifiable results.
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
* Able to work in a calm, organised manner at all times.
* An excellent communicator both oral and written.
* A creative thinker with an ability to spot commercial sales opportunities and opportunities to upsell.
