We’re looking for an AR Optical Development Engineer to join the Optical Engine Delivery Team at Snap Inc!
What you’ll do:
The Optical Engine (OE) Delivery Team is responsible for the engineering, characterisation and manufacture of Snap’s AR display platform. The team delivers high-quality processes, instrumentation and analysis to characterise and develop the next generation of AR products. The team works with third party contract manufacturers to deliver OE’s in volume. You will:
1. Help transfer designs and process’ to CM’s & manufacturing partners
2. Be expected to understand optical experimental methodology and have experience in an optical laboratory environment
3. Analyse incoming process data from the manufacturer and provide support with failure analysis
4. Support process development (validate process development, RCA…)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
5. Good optical engineering experience with a focus on manufacturing and processes
6. Ability to work in a dynamic environment with fast changing needs and priorities
7. Prototyping and analysis of opto-mechanical designs
Minimum Qualifications:
8. BSc in Physics, Optics or other relevant engineering experience.
9. Experience with transferring optical designs to a contract manufacturer
10. Experience with Optical (eg: Zemax) and Mechanical (eg: Solidworks) design software
Preferred Qualifications:
11. 5+ Years experience in optical engineering or PhD in physics, optics or engineering
12. Understanding of manufacturing processes
13. Experience with mechanical design and rapid prototyping of jigs and fixtures
14. Experience in display testing and image quality evaluation
15. Experience in colorimetry and radiometry
16. Experience in AR/VR systems
17. Experience with micro displays
18. Understanding of Polarising optics
19. Understanding of Diffractive Optics
20. Software experience (eg: Python or LabView)
