Research and External Engagement (REE) is a new integrated service dedicated to driving forward the University’s ambitions for research, innovation, skills and enterprise. This professional service works to support our students, drive research excellence, upskill and reskill the region's workforce, strengthen relationships and engagement with our alumni, business and community partners.

About the team:
The Research Excellence and Environment team supports UWE academics to develop and thrive within an embedded and sustainable culture; one that is underpinned by the principles of collaboration, integrity and responsible governance. Comprised of three complimentary areas: Integrity, Ethics and Governance; Environment, Culture and Development; and Research Excellence, the team delivers on major sector-wide initiatives, such as the REF.
Working together, they ensure the university is well-placed to engage with and strategically benefit from these opportunities, and are compliant with any external and internal regulatory or policy developments. Delivering, developing, and evaluating appropriate activities to ensure UWE’s academic community has the skills, expertise and networks to grow in their careers.
About the role:
The Research Excellence Impact Manager will provide specialist guidance and support to academic and professional services colleagues to improve and optimise the quality and readiness of the University’s impact submissions to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercises.
They will be the University’s expert on the requirements of impact for REF, providing training for, and collaborating with, academic colleagues to inform best practice and ensure alignment with national REF submission guidelines.
They will support the development, refinement and evaluation of compelling impact narratives for REF, and the identification and collation of evidence to demonstrate the reach and significance of the impact.
They will implement efficient processes to monitor and report progress on the development of impact submissions and wider impact indicators and initiatives.
About You
You are a proactive and highly collaborative individual who enjoys being part of a small team and has experience of working in a large complex organisation.
You can demonstrate knowledge of the REF and an understanding of the wider impact agenda.
With excellent communication skills, you can draft clear, compelling content across a range of disciplines to support our REF activity. To complement your written skills, you will be confident in developing effective working relationships with academic colleagues and external stakeholders alike.
You are comfortable using your initiative and effectively developing solutions to progress your portfolio. With experience of desk-based research, data analysis and evaluation, compliance and attention to detail are important to you and the way you work.

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week.
