Vacancy: Senior Process Engineer Location: Culham, UK Job Family: General Engineering The Senior Process Engineer will lead and execute activities related to process innovation, process design, scale up and improvement of JM's Hydrogen Technologies membrane & catalyst technologies, focusing mainly on coating, deposition and in-line analytics. This will enable JM to ramp up supply of quality samples and products to customers and support capital projects to meet accelerating demand from an expanding market. This role is part of the Process Technology Team and is based in Culham, Oxfordshire (Swindon as a base can be considered). Travel to Swindon is expected on a regular basis for meetings and trials (up to 50%). Travel for process trials or meetings at vendor sites and other third parties in Europe and globally is also expected, up to 10-20% of the time. Occasional requirement to flex standard working hours (with notice) to support business delivery of trial activities. Your responsibilities: Champion process safety and proactive safety. Actively promote and ensure full compliance with all EHS policies and procedures. Manage the development of process technology & scale up of new products in the areas of ink making, roll-to-roll manufacture and converting to meet quality and commercial targets. (inks, rheology, coating, automation, analytics) Plan and execute qualification and validation trials and prototyping campaigns to ensure new roll-to-roll/converted products can be manufactured at commercial scale (across JM sites and at third parties). Organise and debottleneck trial execution including preparing/reviewing risk assessments, specifications, trial plans, approvals, material logistics, reports and testing. Accountable for the production, review and management of key process technology controls and documentation including technical risk reviews/assessments, FMEA, change management, technology & quality manuals and bases of safety. Own key deliverables for capital or expansion projects (toll manufacturing, outsourcing and new plants). Lead the technical design and definition of new manufacturing facilities/equipment. Plan and supervise commissioning activities as required. Lead the troubleshooting of production issues. Deliver Process Innovation aligned to the Process roadmap and the generation of IP and trade secrets in conjunction with the Engineering Manager/Lead Process Engineer Responsible for the production, review and benchmarking of process and/or cost models as required to support process technology projects. Provide modelling expertise and advise to other stakeholders. Requirements for the role: Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering based subject or equivalent with industrial experience. Demonstrated experience in roll-to-roll manufacturing processes, coating or printing. Proactive & independent with a can-do attitude and creative approach to overcoming challenges. Delivery-focused and able to achieve business critical timescales and work under pressure. Develops positive collaborative relationships with colleagues based on good communication, trust and respect.
