Engineering Machinist
Location: Leicester
Type: Permanent Role
Salary: Up to £15 per hour DOE
Shifts: Double Day shifts (mornings and afternoons on rotation)
Summary
A new opportunity for an Engineering Machinist to join a very successful aerospace company based in Thurmaston in their airframe department. This role involves working hours on a double day shift as follows:
1. Week 1: Monday to Thursday: 5:30 am to 14:00 pm, Friday: 5:30 am to 13:30 pm
2. Week 2: Monday to Thursday: 14:00 pm to 10:30 pm
The Employer
This company specializes in manufacturing nuts, bolts, and fasteners predominantly for the aerospace industry. They are looking for Manual Machinists or individuals with a manufacturing or production mindset to join their expanding team due to rapid business growth.
The Job
Responsibilities include:
1. Operating and setting engineering machinery such as thread rollers, broaching, and turning machines.
2. Helping maintain and promote a safe working environment.
3. Using measuring equipment, e.g., verniers, calipers.
4. Reading and working from engineering drawings.
5. Working to small tolerances.
6. Collaborating closely with the tool room.
The Ideal Candidate
Qualifications and experience:
1. Experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, or production environment.
2. A background in car mechanics could be considered.
3. Ability to work well as part of a team.
4. Machining experience is essential.
5. A proactive approach to work.
6. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
7. Candidates with engineering qualifications/apprenticeships will be considered.
