Description As Customs Specialist, you will support and guide the UK Business Units in customs special procedures in accordance with HMRC guidelines. The Customs Specialists will manage the day-to-day running of the customs special procedures that are currently in place for the UK Business Units. The Customs Specialist will work with key stakeholders to develop and execute plans while ensuring that customs compliance requirements are always met. The Customs Specialist will escalate any customs compliance issues to the Manager Europe Regional Compliance. You will be keen to take on challenges, remain current on relevant customs law and regulations, with respect to products imported by NOV operations and NOV policies and procedures related to the import-export process. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure ongoing compliance across the UK Business Units to meet requirements of NOV customs approvals Maintain accurate records of goods imported to Inward Processing and assist with submission of Bills of Discharge to HMRC to meet deadlines Manage third party approved vendors in line with current Inward Processing Authorisation Prepare and support of external audits as required by HMRC Knowledge of commodity codes Manage customs clearance for equipment being imported into IP or any other customs procedure Manage customs clearance for equipment being re-exported out of IP or any other customs procedure Recordkeeping in line with HMRC guidance Knowledge of FTA Knowledge of Origin and Preference Post entry audit checks required Issuing letters of instruction to customs brokers for IP shipments SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Extensive experience in Import/Export (Customs Qualification completed with Institute of Export - desirable) In-depth knowledge of Customs practices and Customs special procedures Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook) Working knowledge of ERP systems Knowledge of using a duty management system Understands business needs and drivers, and can anticipate the impact of change, accepting risk and uncertainty Provides colleagues with the necessary information to complete tasks and improve processes based on business needs Takes personal responsibility in challenging situations, engages in disputes to settle them equitably, and dependably achieves goals Motivates a wide range of individuals, including direct reports and team members, and is firm yet diplomatic when negotiating What NOV can offer you on top of a competitive salary?
