The Production Planner & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and optimize inventory levels. This role ensures efficient and effective coordination of logistics, including transportation and distribution, to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning:
1. Develop, implement and maintain a customised supply chain concept to optimise the combination of lead time, inventory and production utilisation.
2. Develop and maintain operative production schedules to ensure OTIF and high quality.
3. Close coordination with production departments and global SCM to ensure optimal resource utilization.
4. Analyse and optimise campaign production to reduce change over times and costs
5. Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand or production capacity.
6. Analyse production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
7. Review and analyse production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports to detect production problems.
Inventory Management:
1. Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production and customer needs.
2. Conduct regular inventory audits and implement inventory control procedures.
3. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
Logistics Coordination:
1. Manage logistics operations including inbound and outbound transportation.
2. Coordinate with shipping and receiving departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.
3. Develop and implement strategies to optimise transportation and distribution processes.
4. Liaise with suppliers, customers, and transportation companies to ensure efficient logistics operations.
5. Book, plan and monitor international shipments using Freight Management System and Carrier portals - in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply to that area of the world and to the goods consigned.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
1. Prepare and maintain production and logistics reports for management review.
2. Analyse production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
3. Utilize ERP systems to track and report on production and logistics metrics.
Collaboration and Communication:
1. Work closely with various departments including production, procurement, quality control, and sales to align production and logistics activities with company objectives.
2. Communicate production schedules and logistics plans to relevant stakeholders.
3. Address and resolve any production or logistics issues promptly.
Knowledge, experience & skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience: Demonstrable experience in production planning and logistics coordination (ideally within manufacturing/chemical industry).
Skills:

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong skills in data analysis, development of strategies and solutions and implementation of these solutions.
* Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
* Knowledge and experience in handling, storage and transportation of Dangerous Goods.
* Experience and knowledge in sending goods via road, air, sea and rail incl. linked regulations such as e.g. ADR, IATA, RID or IMDG
* Methodical approach with acute attention to detail.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles is a plus
