We are ideally seeking applicants who are either immediately available or on a minimum of 1 month notice period. Salary on offer will be paid in the range of £65,000 to £75,000 and hybrid working will be available. You will support the CFO in driving the cost-efficient growth of the entity, ensuring the smooth operation of the accounts department, and bringing consistency to the group reporting processes. This individual will oversee month-end processes, management accounting, manage staff responsible for financial reporting, and work towards reducing the time taken for month-end closing. The role involves leading the budgeting, re-forecasting, and year-end processes, as well as assisting with group restructuring initiatives. A key aspect of the role will be introducing financial reporting into cost centres, collaborating with stakeholders to establish departmental budgets, and monitoring their effectiveness. Additionally, they will identify cost-saving opportunities across the group. The position also requires preparation and control over various tax returns, including VAT and Corporation Tax, and liaising with stakeholders to gather information for R&D reports. The Financial Controller will maintain strong relationships with auditors and tax advisors, ensure accurate financial data for reporting purposes, and assist the CFO with cash management across the group. Regular reporting will be required, including financial performance against budget, and any major variations must be highlighted. The successful candidate will be tasked with providing financial reports upon request from stakeholders and advising on financial performance where appropriate. Key Competencies The ideal candidate must be able to prioritise effectively and perform under pressure while maintaining high standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the individual will need to communicate complex financial information clearly and confidently to a range of stakeholders. A keen attention to detail is critical, as is the ability to drive improvements in information quality and push projects through despite potential challenges. The candidate should consistently demonstrate a strong work ethic and productivity. A proactive approach to challenging established practices and suggesting improvements is necessary. The successful individual will be comfortable both working independently and collaborating as part of a team. The role demands someone who is hands-on, with a positive attitude and the ability to manage and develop teams as needed. Enthusiasm, energy, and the ability to effectively manage questions or objections are key attributes for success. The Financial Controller should always seek to understand the underlying factors behind the numbers, with an emphasis on delivering insights rather than just reporting figures.
