We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual who wants to make a real difference to our patients and staff, to join our team at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as a Medicine and Emergency Care Patient Safety Manager.
We are seeking an inspirational, influential leader who is confident, dynamic, visible and has or would like to gain experience working at a senior level in healthcare, particularly in the management of risk, incidents, governance and complaints.
This role presents the opportunity to take up a fixed term/secondment within the Medical Governance team, who are committed to continuously improving, adapting and trialling new innovative ways of working, and workforce models, to deliver a positive environment in which our staff can flourish and fundamentally to ensure excellent patient experience and outstanding care.
The individual will work in the Medicine and Emergency Care Clinical Business Unit and have the opportunity to gain experience in risk, incidents, governance and complaints management, with a focus on quality improvement and learning lessons to ensure the provision of safe, high-quality care. Support will be given to develop while in this role.
From 1st July we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Trust delivers acute hospital care, intermediate care, community, and primary care services to a population of over 600,000 people with a combined workforce of around 9000 dedicated and skilled staff from 17 locations including Whiston, Southport & Formby, St Helens, Ormskirk and Newton hospitals.

The successful candidate must be a role model demonstrating the Trust values, who will be able to critically analyse, supportively challenge and provide exceptional oversight into the management of incidents, risks and complaints for the business unit.
The successful candidate must have excellent time management skills, be flexible, adaptable and able to work to tight deadlines, producing written documents to a high standard with detailed analysis to support in the identification of issues and themes.
The patient safety manager will jointly support the operational management of the Medicine and Emergency Care Governance Team, to ensure that the verbal and written communication with patients, families and staff is of an excellent standard and that lessons learnt are shared appropriately both within the division and Trust.
