Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Head of Operations to oversee and optimise a key segment of their supply chain. This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and efficient ordering, storage, inventory management, and coordination of logistics with third-party providers, all aimed at meeting business and customer demands effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Stock Management & Procurement:
* Develop and maintain an efficient stock ordering system to align with business demand, minimise excess inventory, and support overall business growth.
* Work closely with suppliers to ensure the timely procurement of materials and equipment required for smooth operations.
* Monitor stock levels, conduct regular audits, and ensure accurate inventory records to prevent shortages, overstocking, and loss.
Storage & Warehouse Coordination:
* Oversee the organisation and handling of stock, ensuring best practices are followed to promote efficiency, a clean workspace, and cost-effectiveness.
* Implement and manage inventory control measures to improve accuracy and optimise warehouse processes.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, ISO standards, and other relevant audit requirements in warehouse operations.
Logistics & Distribution Management:
* Proactively address logistical challenges and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with delivery delays or disruptions in the supply chain.
Team Management & Leadership:
* Lead and mentor a small warehouse team responsible for stock control, warehousing, and logistics.
* Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture by providing guidance, setting clear objectives, and ensuring professional development opportunities.
* Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, and implement performance improvement initiatives when needed.
* Ensure effective communication and coordination between team members and other departments to enhance operational efficiency.
Commercial Management:
* Achieve 'Invoice Out' targets to maximise revenue and ensure business profitability.
* Closely manage relevant cost lines on the P&L to maintain optimised profitability.
Process Improvement & Reporting:
* Identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency and implement process improvements as needed.
* Monitor and analyse key performance indicators related to inventory turnover, logistics efficiency, and cost management.
* Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
Customer Service:
* Manage a small customer service team, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution of customer queries and issues.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* At least 5 years of experience in operations or supply chain management, preferably in a similar environment.
* Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, supply chain planning tools, and logistics coordination.
* Proven experience in managing third-party logistics providers and optimising supply chain processes.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure.
* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
* Proficiency in ERP systems and warehouse management software.
* Knowledge of sustainability practices in supply chain operations.
* Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to inventory management.
* Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Experience in supporting business expansions.
