Behaviour Specialist Teacher Location: Newport, Wales Position: Pupil Referral Unit Teacher (Behaviour Provision) Contract Type: Full Time Salary: £166.32 per day Agency: Teaching Personnel About the Role: Teaching Personnel are currently seeking an experienced Pupil Referral Unit Teacher to join a dedicated team at a client school in Newport, Wales. This role is focused on supporting students with challenging behaviours in a specialised behaviour provision environment. You will be instrumental in creating a positive learning atmosphere and implementing strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of students with behavioural challenges. Foster a supportive and inspiring learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and achievement. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including teaching assistants, therapists, and educational psychologists to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students. Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents/carers. Manage classroom behaviour effectively, utilizing positive reinforcement strategies and de-escalation techniques. Maintain accurate records of student performance and behaviour, reporting concerns to relevant staff as necessary. Engage with parents and families to build relationships and encourage their involvement in the educational process. Qualifications and Experience: A valid teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) with experience working in Alternative Provision or Pupil Referral Units. Strong understanding of the factors contributing to challenging behaviour and strategies for effective intervention. Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
