Shift Patterns will be:
Long days: 07:00-20:00
Nights: 19:45-07:15
Applicant must have these advanced skills:
* Analysis of blood results
* Venepuncture
* Arterial blood gas sampling
* Cannulation
* Administration of IV drugs
* Male catheterisation
* Verification of expected deaths
* Taking and interpreting of 12 lead ECG's
* CPR/Advance Life Support
* To advise nursing staff re: drug availability and usage and refer to the pharmacist as appropriate
* Review of patient post falls assessments
* Advice re: care and management of CVP lines
* Advice and support re: NIV management
* Advice and support re: patients with mental health issues e.g. requiring sectioning
* Advice and support in the use of the CPD system
Main duties of the job:
You will be a key player in supporting the Corporate Operational team to be the Senior Nurse team bed manager, site management and HOOH co-ordinator, as well as having advanced clinical skills.
You will be a clinical expert with the ability to make clinical decisions in relation to deteriorating patients and site management, and able to demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and manage the site out of hours.
Duties also include:
* Fire & act as site fire warden
* Major incident
* Press/media enquiries
* Health and safety
* Infection control - advice ward staff in the absence of IPC nurse with on call microbiology support
* Mental Health - Trust signatory for MH sections
* Patient affairs in the absence of the post holder.
* Security issues
* Safeguarding issues out of normal working hours
* Enact plan left by Matrons. Re-allocate and book nursing staff out of hours in an emergency working with staffing tools such as SafeCare & Patchwork and handing over to Matrons.
* Telephone agreed agency to book last minute Locum Doctors requests
* Disciplinary issues
* Serious Untoward Incidents
* Lone Worker
* Bomb
* Complaints
* Patient Affairs e.g. witnessing wills and power of attorney

Education, Qualifications and Training:
Essential:
* First level RGN with 2 years experience in a senior nursing role.
* Diploma/ Degree in Health related topic
* ALS/ PLS (must be completed within 6 months of appointment)
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Evidence of post reg specialist clinical learning (Post Graduate Level Study)
Desirable:
* Mentorship qualification

* Experience of working in a health care environment for a minimum of 2 years.
* Extensive post reg experience in acute setting
