The Role:
As a Licensing Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing public nuisance and noise complaints within Torbay. Reporting to the Regulatory Services Manager (Commercial), you will be the lead officer for Public Nuisance, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and investigating noise complaints. Your role will also involve supporting other licensing areas, including Park Homes, Street Trading/Pavement Cafes, and Taxi Licensing, with training provided as necessary.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing your own caseload, conducting programmed and unannounced inspections and investigations, and determining appropriate enforcement actions. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require occasional travel within the local area and work outside regular office hours.
The Ideal Candidate:
To thrive in this role, you should possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable engaging with the public, elected officials, and other enforcement agencies. Candidates with a background in statutory nuisance investigations or experience in a regulatory environment will be given preference. Educational requirements include a degree-level qualification (including HND or equivalent) or relevant work experience in licensing/environmental health.
