Nursery Nurse/Officer full time– Job Description
Responsible to: Manager, Deputy Manager.
Primary purpose: To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Day Nursery. To give support to other staff within the Day Nursery. To implement the daily routine.
Primary responsibilities:
1. Devise and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending the Nursery, in union with the Manager.
2. Prepare the children’s records in your group and establish reviews for parents, in union with the Manager.
3. Work alongside parents of special needs children to achieve full integration within the Nursery.
4. Foresee the needs of special needs children and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate.
5. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
6. Work with and support parents and other family members.
7. Work with the Local Authority and other professionals associated with the Day Nursery.
8. Attend monthly staff meetings outside working hours.
9. Undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment.
10. Participate in the training programmes of a wide variety of students (i.e. placements and volunteers), by giving guidance and support.
11. Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled.
Additional responsibilities: To be aware of your entitlements to professional development and to take part in regular appraisals.
Qualifications: Level 6 or above preferred
