RPS is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) to join the Team in Birmingham.

What you’ll be doing:
This is an exciting role for an individual looking to progress their career as a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our industry-leading team where we have an excellent reputation, offering a wealth of expertise in all sectors of the built environment.
Duties Include:
* Carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
* Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept and scheme design stages.
* Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members.
* Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems.
* Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings and specifications for projects.
* Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team. Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements.
* Utilise Building Services software for calculations.
* Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
* Select and specify products, equipment and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for the costing and installation by Contractors.
* Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff.
Who we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role you will most likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements.
Additionally, you will:
* Be experienced in designing principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A) including:
* Chilled water.
* Domestic hot and cold water systems / Public Health.
* Heating systems.
* Use of Hevacomp / IES or equivalent.
* Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD.
* Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
