Manufacturing Operations & Production Supervisor - Assembly - SME
Wonderful opportunity to lead a small, motivated team in a new purpose-built facility for an established engineering SME in Hitchin. The team consists of 11 members with a turnover of £5 million.
Salary: £42,000 - £48,000 starting salary with fantastic benefits, a great team, and stability.
Role Overview: This leadership position offers plenty of variety, allowing you to make innovative custom engineered products. You will manage a small team of multi-disciplined assemblers and will need a background in production planning, working closely with the product design and procurement teams.
This role will be based at the new manufacturing site in Hertfordshire and will oversee the production process, coordinating all production activities and operations. You will be involved in both the pre-production (planning) stage and the production (control and supervision) stage, with a significant focus on people and resource management.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and organise a team of 11.
2. Plan and draw up a production schedule.
3. Decide on and order the required resources, ensuring stock levels remain adequate.
4. Select equipment and take responsibility for its maintenance.
5. Set quality standards.
6. Ensure cost-effective production by estimating costs and negotiating budgets with clients and managers.
7. Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed.
8. Monitor productivity rates and product standards, implementing quality control programmes.
9. Organise the repair of any damaged equipment.
10. Liaise with different departments, teams, and companies (e.g., suppliers, managers, clients).
11. Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
12. Ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget while meeting quality standards and targets.
13. Work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
14. Collate and analyse data, preparing production reports for factory managers and customers.
15. Supervise and motivate a team of workers.
16. Review worker performance and identify training needs.
