Keeler Recruitment is working with a successful privately owned company in Norwich that’s looking to appoint an experienced Head of Finance. This is a central leadership role that offers both strategic influence and day-to-day control of financial operations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll be part of the senior leadership team, helping to shape the future of the business while overseeing its financial health and administrative systems.
As Head of Finance, you'll take full ownership of the finance function. This includes producing monthly management accounts, presenting key financial insights to senior stakeholders, and ensuring all reporting is accurate, timely, and strategically valuable. You’ll lead a small finance team and be responsible for maintaining strong oversight of all financial processes, from credit control and invoice processing to cash flow forecasting and payroll authorisation.
Your role will also involve overseeing the company’s statutory obligations, ensuring compliance with VAT, PAYE, and other regulatory requirements. You’ll take the lead on audit preparation and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, as well as being responsible for annual accounts and tax submissions. Alongside this, you'll produce financial reports on an ad hoc basis to support business performance monitoring and planning.
Beyond the core financial responsibilities, this is a highly varied and hands-on role. You’ll also take charge of broader operational areas, such as managing company insurance renewals and claims, maintaining statutory company records and HR administration, and overseeing IT systems and infrastructure. There’s a real opportunity here to implement process improvements, bring in new systems, and make a tangible impact on how the business runs.
Strategically, you’ll work closely with the Managing Director, offering guidance and financial input into business planning and key decisions. The role offers excellent prospects for long-term growth, with the potential to step into a Finance Director position in the future.
The ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally with a background in practice and subsequent experience within industry. Sector experience in manufacturing or retail would be particularly beneficial. You’ll bring strong technical accounting skills and advanced systems knowledge — especially in Excel — combined with a strategic mindset and the ability to operate effectively across the business. This role will suit someone who is resilient, detail-oriented, and commercially astute, with a proven ability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement
