A global biopharmaceutical organisation is looking to recruit a VAT accountant on a twelve-month temporary contract. With the role starting in January, you would be joining their eight-person Tax Europe team at their office in Chester. The company delivers innovative medicines to patients with life-threatening diseases. With offices across Europe, North America, and China, this well-established, highly respected organisation offers an exciting opportunity for an inspired and motivated tax specialist.
Your new role
As a VAT accountant in the tax team, you will report to the indirect tax manager and other tax directors of the organisation. Your main responsibilities will include preparing and submitting VAT returns and other indirect tax returns for specific territories, dealing with reconciliations and VAT compliance theories. Other key accountabilities include:
1. Reconcile VAT General Ledger and sales to reported VAT sales.
2. Assist with VAT audits and liaise with tax authorities.
3. Monitor VAT legislation changes and maintain VAT codes.
4. Support tax technology implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
1. 2+ years of VAT compliance experience in a multinational tax environment.
2. Experience with SAP or Oracle.
3. Excellent Excel skills.
4. Fluent in English.
5. Manage competing priorities effectively.
6. Communicate effectively at multiple company levels.
7. Have a team-oriented approach.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
9. Problem-solving and analytical skills.
