Main duties of the job
We currently have a vacancy for a Band 4 Senior Clinical Trials Assistant within the Paediatric Research Team based at the University Hospital Southampton Clinical Research Facility. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of working with children and their families. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate the delivery of our wide portfolio of studies.
The Paediatric Research Team work across all specialities within the Children's Hospital and out in the community.

Job responsibilities
The role of a Senior Clinical Trials Assistant within the Paediatric ResearchTeam includes:
- Assisting in the delivery of clinical research studies including direct patient care and administrative support to children and their families.- Organising own workload which includes the day-to-day coordination and implementation of delegated studies.- Developing and maintaining clinical knowledge and skills, within the scope of the role, to provide a high standard of care to children and their families participating in research.- Delivering direct care to participants within the scope of competence, coordinating and undertaking a range of clinical tasks and observations including but not limited to venesection, blood pressure (manual and electronic), recording ECGs, and measuring height and weight (anthropometric measurements).
There is no set shift rotation. The majority of the time, you will work our core hours of 8 am-4 pm. However, we expect that you will also be able to work flexible hours, including long days, nights, and weekends, as per study requirements.
- The post holder will be a car driver, with a full driving license and willing to travel to various locations within the community as per study protocol requirements.

Qualifications
Essential
1. A' Level/NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant subject area
2. Complete Care Certificate or NVQ3/ foundation degree in Healthcare-related subject
3. Evidence of continuing professional development and willingness to undertake further training.
Desirable
4. Degree/ higher education or equivalent
5. IT related qualifications
6. ICH GCP Trained
Knowledge and experience
Essential
7. Significant relevant clinical experience in a patient-facing healthcare clinical role
8. Experience of data management
9. Interest in clinical research.
10. Ability to work as part of a team, work under own initiative and independently outside the dept without direct supervision.
11. Able to prioritise tasks and cope with deadlines
12. An understanding of confidentiality issues
13. Ability to work in a large, open plan office where there may be noise distractions
14. Willing to travel to various locations in and around Southampton
