Service Care Solutions are looking for a Learning Coach to work within The Manchester College on a contract basis.
Location: Openshaw
Job role/responsibilities:
1. Act as a liaison between students, teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
2. Work closely with teachers and other colleagues to identify and address issues affecting student performance and behaviour in the classroom.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of their young person's progress and any concerns.
4. Facilitate students' access to additional services and resources as needed.
5. Build positive relationships with students, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
6. Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
7. Create a 'safe base' for students, providing morning and afternoon form sessions to provide 'touch points' to tackle issues proactively.
8. Drive a culture of celebrating student achievements.
9. Address and manage challenging behaviours effectively, employing de-escalation techniques and restorative practices.
10. Provide individualised support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) where required.
11. Demonstrate positive behaviours, attitudes, and values to serve as a role model and inspire disengaged students to make positive changes in their lives.
Qualifications:
12. Youth and Community Work qualification or equivalent.
13. HTLA qualification or equivalent.
14. Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
15. Maths and English minimum grade C/4 at level 2.
Knowledge/Experience:
16. Relevant appropriate experience working in a youth related environment.
17. Previous experience of working with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies.
18. Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs and EHCPs.
