Job Title: Hearing Impaired Teaching Assistant
We are seeking an enthusiastic Hearing Impaired Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated Hearing Impaired Unit as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to support students in mainstream classes in a calm and professional manner. The position reports to the Head of the Centre of the Deaf.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support identified students to access the curriculum effectively, tailored to their needs and understanding.
2. Assist in implementing needs outlined in EHCPs.
3. Provide classroom support to the teacher, maintaining an orderly and inclusive environment.
4. Promote the inclusion of all students.
5. Supervise and support students, fostering independent learning and group collaboration.
6. Assist students in developing skills in language, reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics.
7. Liaise with teachers and external professionals to support special programs or Inclusion Support Plans.
8. Monitor and report on student progress and contribute to the annual review of EHCPs.
9. Support students' ICT skills and the use of technology in learning activities.
10. Prepare and adapt learning materials to suit students' understanding levels.
11. Build positive relationships with parents/carers and provide feedback as guided by the teacher.
12. Assist with classroom preparations, students' physical needs, and promote positive behavior in line with the school’s policy.
13. Support students during school visits, trips, and extracurricular activities.
14. Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

All pay rates quoted include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with potential for permanency in the future.
