Social Worker – Family Support and Safeguarding Team Portsmouth City Council
Location: Portsmouth
Contract: Locum, Full-time (37 hours per week)

As a Social Worker in our Family Support and Safeguarding Team, you will play a key role in supporting families, ensuring children's safety, and promoting positive long-term outcomes.

Responsibilities
Manage a reasonable caseload of no more than 20 children to ensure effective support.
Work with children in need (CiN), child protection (CP), looked after children (LAC), and court proceedings.
Conduct thorough assessments and create child-centred plans.
Lead safeguarding enquiries and work in partnership with multi-agency professionals.
Use a restorative approach to build positive relationships with families and empower them to make changes.
Attend regular supervision sessions to develop your skills and receive guidance.Requirements
A Degree in Social Work and Social Work England registration.
At least two years of post-qualifying experience in children's services.
Strong knowledge of child protection, court work, and relevant legislation (Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together 2018, etc.).
The ability to build positive working relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to present evidence in court.
