Job overview
This is an opportunity to join a successful service in a post that has been well established.
The post consists of assessment and management of patients with severe and enduring mental illness in the community of Salford. There is ample opportunity for development of a range of skills, including domiciliary assessments; MDT interactions; report writing, MHA work; teaching, training and supervision of junior doctors and medical students; managerial, research and clinical governance work.
Cromwell House itself has around 1200 patients, the current active caseload for this position is 160 patients and is a mix of complex Care Programmes approach patients on standard care. The successful applicant would assess 2-3 new patients a week and conduct follow up clinics of 15 to 16 patients per week.
The candidate will be expected to be section 12 approved or be eligible for approval and become involved in Mental Health Act work for patients in both roles.
Main duties of the job
1. Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
2. Record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively and submit this promptly to the Information Department.
3. Participate in annual appraisal for Specialty Doctors.
4. Attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
5. Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval process where approved and to abide by professional codes of conduct.
6. Participate annually in a job plan review with the clinical manager.
7. Work with local managers (their supervising consultant, lead consultant, associate medical director, deputy operational director and other operational managers) and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services.
8. Comply with the Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions.
9. Participate in investigations when clinical care of one of their patients is being investigated.
10. Participate in service and business planning activity for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service.
