We are seeking a dedicated and recently qualified Projects Accountant to join our dynamic team based in Scotland. In this role, you will support the Projects Finance Manager and work closely with the Project Management teams to provide financial analysis, performance reviews, and ensure compliance. You will focus on cash flow and profit improvements, deliver accurate forecasts and budgets, and have a crucial role in the ambitious growth of our Transmission & Distribution business through regular site visits. This hybrid role can be based out of Wood's Glasgow or Aberdeen offices.
The Role
As Projects Accountant, you'll directly support the Projects Finance Manager by providing financial analysis and insights for Transmission & Distribution projects, while collaborating with Project Management teams to optimize performance, compliance, and cash flow, all while engaging with stakeholders through site visits to enhance your commercial and operational understanding.

Typical responsibilities
Forecasting & Assurance
* Coordinate stakeholder inputs to prepare and present the End Life Forecast, incorporate the ELF into fully supported Rolling and Annual Forecasts for consolidation.
* Investigate variances in project cost, revenue, and cash performance to determine appropriate forecast assumptions, adjustments and derive appropriate actions.
* Ensure compliance with the Financial Management Framework, understanding, mitigating, and reporting any financial risks.
* Liaise with external and internal auditors.
* Provide ad-hoc assistance and reporting on various issues including risk reviews, problem-solving, and improvement plans.
Cash Management & Collection
* Collaborate with the Commercial/Project Teams to ensure timely submission of applications and invoices in accordance with contract terms.
* Calculate and manage the system cost-to-bill rate conversions.
* Produce timely assessments of unbilled project amounts.
Accurate Project Costings
* Work with the project team to ensure accurate monthly cost accruals and provisions are recorded, supported, and understood.
* Liaise with Financial Shared Services to ensure costs are allocated timely and accurately within the Cost/Work Breakdown Structure.
Month-End Reporting
* Lead end to end project accounting activities for the respective Projects and prepare monthly financial reports covering P&L, Accounts Receivables, Unbilled, Backlog validation to EPM reporting at month ends.
* Ensure all required project data is submitted per strict system timelines.
* Ensure project teams are aware of financial targets, track their performance, and manage actions for improvement.

Expected:
* Recently qualified CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent with experience in forecasting, cash management, project costings, and month-end reporting.
* Strong problem-solving skills, providing effective solutions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, commercial awareness, and developing stakeholder management skills.
* Proficient in Excel & PowerPoint, with strong ethical values and honest communication.
* Highly organized, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines accurately.
* Willing to travel and capable of building strong working relationships.
