Progressive role for a Lead Tractor Driver and Herdsperson in Cambridgeshire
ABOUT US
We run a growing farming and contracting business covering in excess of 1,500 acres. We currently run 700 outdoor lambing ewes, 60 outdoor calving cattle, 250 acres of arable land and produce circa 600 acres of hay and silage under contracting arrangements.
We have invested heavily in machinery and equipment as part of our continued growth, with a focus on investing to improve the experience for our people and our livestock. As a result, we have a fleet of modern and well-maintained equipment, all with GPS guidance, including:
* JCB Fastrac 4220, Massey Ferguson 7716
* 2023 Bale Baron 5250T and 2024 Massey Ferguson 1842s inline baler
* 2020 Fendt front and rear mowers
* 2022 8m Massey Ferguson twin rotor rake
* 2022 8m Massey Ferguson tedder
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience of tractor driving across a range of operations, and will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of machinery across our arable unit and contracting offering. You will also take responsibility for the day-to-day care of our herd of cattle alongside other members of our team. You will be conscientious, uphold our high standards in machinery maintenance and animal welfare, and be committed to going the extra mile where required, particularly during busy periods.
Whilst you will take primary responsibility for the machinery operation, you will be involved in other seasonal operations, including lambing, calving, and other farm projects and maintenance. While experience of working with sheep may be beneficial, it isn't imperative, and the opportunity to learn and develop those skills will be provided.
You will be honest, hard-working, willing to learn, and a good communicator.
Desirable skills or experience:
* Experience of operating machinery across a range of operations
* PA1 / PA2
* Ability to problem solve and work independently, as well as fitting into our team
* Clean UK driving licence and trailer test
* Experience of working with and calving cattle desirable, but not imperative
* Experience of operating a 360 excavator desirable, but not imperative
