YPO’s Contracts Team is looking to welcome a Legal Officer to the team, covering a 12-month secondment. This is a great opportunity for a law graduate or someone with a legal background to gain hands-on experience in commercial contracts and public procurement. It’s a perfect stepping stone if you’re aiming for a Training Contract or want to build a career in commercial law.
Salary: Starting at£39,186 per year

About the Role:
In this role, you’ll work on drafting and reviewing important contracts worth millions of pounds. You'll also help with novations, variations, guarantees, and other legal documents. A big part of the job is doing legal research to improve the company’s contract templates and ensuring everything follows legal guidelines.
You’ll be working with different people from sectors like construction, welfare, insurance, and medicine, so excellent verbal and written communication skills are important. You’ll also represent YPO in legal meetings and help resolve contract issues.
As a go-to person for public procurement legal queries, you’ll help in advising the team on tricky legal matters, ensuring compliance across the organisation. This role gives you the chance to learn a lot about how law works in the public sector while contributing to services that make a difference across the UK.
Essential Skills:
* Law degree or legal experience, with qualifications like MCIPS or CILeX being a bonus.
* Good understanding of public sector procurement and the current laws and regulations.
* Experience drafting and reviewing contracts, including different types of contract clauses.
* Able to understand and apply laws to our organisation’s work.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
