We are recruiting a full-time skilled Gardener whose main area of responsibility is within and surrounding our prestigious Walled Garden and in the production of garden produce and plants for sale to the public.
The Gardens at Teasses were established around 25 years ago and have undergone constant development since then. The two-acre Walled Garden and Victorian Greenhouse are particular highlights within the extensive 60-acre garden. Our Walled Garden also provides an excellent setting for Corporate clients, Private Parties, and Weddings as well as being the centre for garden visits and our summer tea room during our weekly RHS Partner Garden open days.
The Walled Garden consists predominantly of mixed perennial and annual borders, established wall-trained fruit trees and orchard trees, raised beds for the production of organic vegetables, and dedicated cut flower beds. The Greenhouse contains three houses all of which are used for events throughout the year and consist of Peach House, Conservatory, and Vine House.
The Nursery is key to the role of the Walled Garden Gardener for the propagation of stock for plant sales during our open days.
We would like to expand the commercial opportunities of the Walled Garden by producing cut flowers, fruit, vegetables, and plants for sale. This is a key aspect of the role.
The Walled Garden is the most public-facing area of the estate and therefore must always look at its best with lots of seasonal colour and interest throughout the year.
The Walled Garden Gardener is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the Walled Garden, Nursery, and Garden Cottages to an exemplary standard.
