Summary:
We are looking for enthusiastic and patient young people (aged 16-21) with a passion for maths to volunteer as Junior Maths Tutors. In this rewarding role, you will provide support and guidance to younger students (Years 1-11, 11plus, GCSE) with their maths homework and help them build confidence in their abilities. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your own teaching skills, gain valuable experience working with children, and make a positive impact on their education. We will apply for a DBS check on your behalf.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Homework Help: Assist students with their maths homework assignments, focusing on understanding concepts and developing problem-solving skills.
Explain Mathematical Concepts: Clearly explain mathematical concepts and procedures in a way that is easy for younger students to understand.
Create a Supportive Learning Environment: Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help.
Develop Engaging Activities: Help create or adapt engaging activities and games to reinforce learning and make maths more enjoyable.
Track Student Progress: Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the Lead Tutor or Program Coordinator.
Be a Positive Role Model: Act as a positive role model for younger students, demonstrating a passion for learning and a positive attitude towards maths.
Skills and Qualifications:
Aged 16-21 years old.
Strong understanding of primary and secondary school maths concepts.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience and empathy when working with younger students.
Ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and simple manner.
Enthusiasm for helping others learn.
Commitment to volunteering for a specified period.
