Project Overview: For more than 70 years, Atomic Weapons Enterprise (AWE) has assisted the UK Government’s nuclear defence strategy and the Continuous At Sea Deterrent. They use nuclear know-how and technical expertise to provide innovative solutions that assist the UK’s counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction activities. Like Bechtel, they create and maintain a safe operating culture where safety is front and centre of everything they do. From building state-of-the-art facilities, to assisting Production, Science, Engineering and Technology programmes, the management of Environment, Safety, Health and Wellbeing underpins all activities at AWE. The Materials Capability project is a part of the wider Future Materials Campus (FMC) endeavour and is responsible for providing recovery and storage facilities for Uranium and Plutonium Job Summary: The Project Engineer will be assigned to Bechtel’s Engineering Management team and will undertake activities relating to design development across the three projects and engineering liaison to the quality, project management and cost control teams. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be found by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. Major Responsibilities: Supervision of Multi-Discipline Engineering team Responsible for management of engineering master document deliverables list Tracking and agreeing tasks, including identifying reachback resource Tracking document status Ensuring suitable and common levels of quality and checking of deliverables Interfacing with Project Management to ensure accurate reporting Review of engineering deliverables as part of the Integrated Project Team Responsible for the organisation of Continuous Improvement (CI) engineering sessions Develops and ensures the implementation of the Engineering Management Plan from the Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) and Design Control Plan from the client Operating Procedures Drives the zero-accident policy in design and construction engineering, participate in the clients' ES&H programs. Attend daily/weekly coordination and progress meetings with Client and Design Partners Responsible for the monthly engineering dashboard Provide cover for the Project Engineering Manager Work with the Integrated Project Team to ensure collaboration between the interfacing parties Education and Experience Requirements: A recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (or international equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent learning Work experience within significant project delivery environments Technical knowledge of all phases of engineering relating to a single discipline interfacing with all areas, or in a multi- discipline position assigned to a single area. Proven track record of driving deliverables to completion Required Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration on large Infrastructure projects. Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the ES&H requirements, quality standards, specifications, codes, industry practices and other compliance requirements involves in the construction of infrastructure projects. Knowledge and experience on the activities and risks involved in construction of large infrastructure works. Knowledge on subcontracts and interpretation of subcontract documents. Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the Client, Contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
