This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station's vast network of rooms.
The role
As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. The Electrical Commissioning Engineer will act under the direction and control of NNB GenCo.
Day-to-day, you'll carry out roles under the profile of Electrical Commissioning Engineer. Engineers will normally be aligned to either HV, LV, DC or generator systems but will be expected to work across all electrical disciplines at times during the contract period. This includes system voltages at 400kV, 10kV, 400VAC, 690VAC 220VDC and control voltages.
* Accountable to a nominated Commissioning Manager/Engineer in the NNB HPC Project team
* Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities
* Contribute to design reviews to ensure layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning as well as contributing to detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests
* Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel on behalf of HPC to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems
* Support HPC to ensure that the commissioning process meets nuclear, environmental and industrial safety regulatory requirements and that it reflects good industry practice in international safety and technical excellence.
This role is full time, 38 hours per week, and is based on site at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater.
Essential experience of the Electrical Commissioning Engineer
* Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
* Strong technical background in high voltage or low voltage, and transformers.
* Experienced with working under a safety rules system
* Experience in a high hazard or regulatory industry/environment such as nuclear or oil & gas industrial environment.
* Experience working with Contract partners and project managers to deliver works.
Qualifications for the Electrical Commissioning Engineer
* Degree qualified (or equivalent qualification such as HNC + experience) in Electrical Engineering.
* BS7671 18th Edition regulations
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
