Maxar Intelligence Inc. is seeking to appoint a commercially minded in-house counsel to be based outside their dynamic US Legal and Compliance team. This represents an opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to play a critical role, working closely with the GM of the international business, key government and defense clients globally, internal Maxar leadership teams, and colleagues within the Legal Department on a day-to-day basis. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the International Government team execute their mission.
Responsibilities:
1. Support the international go-to-market team with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of contracts and related agreements
2. Practice area will focus on international commercial contracts in the Civil Government and Defense & Intelligence sectors
3. Collaborate with members of the global Legal and Compliance teams, as well as outside counsel
4. Support International team with general corporate matters
5. Serve as a trusted legal advisor to the International GM, sales and HR teams
6. Ensure adherence to company-wide processes and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
1. Qualified solicitor
2. 6+ years of in-house counsel experience at a large, publicly-traded company or equivalent law firm experience
3. Experience with international contracts and licensing
4. Expertise in UK government procurements
5. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to influence others, both internally and externally
6. Experience drafting, reviewing, and advising on international contracts in the Defense & Intelligence or Government sector
7. Cross-jurisdictional experience (EMEA, APAC, LATAM)
8. Strong negotiation skills
9. Ability to work with key stakeholders and fellow counsel teams in multiple regions globally
10. Team player who demonstrates the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams
11. Problem-solver with a strong attention to detail
12. UK citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Significant foreign government procurement experience preferred
2. US government contracting experience a plus
3. Intellectual property background

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $173,000.00 - $289,000.00.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
