The successful candidate will provide operational leadership within the Community Dental Service during a period of exciting transformational change. They will be a key member of an established and supportive management team. Service development, the management of specific projects, and implementation of patient pathways are essential areas of responsibility for this role. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills to support and motivate the dental team through periods of change, ensuring that key performance indicators are met while reviewing capacity and demand to ensure that service provision is safe and responsive. The Community Dental Service is looking for candidates with a proven track record in operational management; it is not essential to have any prior dental service experience.
This role is a fixed term contract for 18 months (secondment opportunity).
Main duties of the job
* To support the Community Lead in the management, delivery, and development of all aspects of care in the assigned portfolios.
* To assist the portfolio Community Lead to ensure the safe delivery of care through the development of community pathways, support, and interventions within the assigned portfolio.
* To be responsible for the operational management and delivery of community services within the assigned portfolio, ensuring the provision of high quality, safe, and responsive services within the available resources.
* To manage and support the development of patient-centered clinical practice and best standards of clinical care liaising with colleagues and external agencies as appropriate.
* To manage and support community staff in relation to performance, recruitment, appraisals, and continual professional development.
* To support the development of the community workforce through early identification of the necessary skills and knowledge required to support the strategic direction of BDCT portfolios.
Some travel across the district is a requirement of the role in order to successfully undertake the range of duties specified within the job description. Therefore, it is essential that applicants have the ability to travel across the district as and when required to meet the needs and demands of the service.
