As our Windows Infrastructure Engineer, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise
As an Infrastructure Server Engineer within the Digital Workplace team, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the secure delivery of our Windows-based IT systems and services. You will provide user support, implement changes, and resolve technical issues to maintain smooth operations.
Our Technology team operates an on-call roster to provide 24/ 7/ 365 support for operational service requirements. This role may require participation in the on-call roster to address any urgent issues that arise.
Your key duties :
Within the Digital Workplace Technical Delivery team, your key areas of work are.
6. Working with Technical staff to deliver IT infrastructure solutions that involve integrating multiple components, considering security, network, and operational considerations.
7. Administering the operational aspects of Windows server infrastructure, including creating comprehensive documentation for all aspects of the supported service delivery.
8. Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure that services are delivered within agreed-upon service levels.
9. Leveraging knowledge of all IT infrastructure areas to identify and pursue opportunities for improving services and business processes.
10. Taking ownership of technical issues and seeing them through to a satisfactory resolution.

As our Windows Infrastructure Engineer, your total reward package will be up to £49,606 annually, which includes:
11. £33,794 base pay
12. An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
13. Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) you will be paid £2,200 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills. Whilst in post, you will be paid this market driven allowance from April 2024 until September 2025 in your monthly pay

16. Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

18. (Experts by nature) Working knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies, ideally some of the following:
19. Microsoft Windows Server/ Client operating systems
20. Active Directory Domain Services
21. Group Policy Management
22. DNS
23. Citrix
24. (Experts by nature) Working knowledge of the benefits of:
25. Endpoint management solutions to deploy Applications and Patches
26. Microsoft Exchange
27. Microsoft365 Cloud Services
28. PowerShell Scripting
29. (Force for Good) A genuine interest and drive in solving complex technical problems, often within the constraints of an operational environment.
Desirable Criteria:
30. (We live and breath it) Current qualifications or the willingness to learn and follow the Microsoft Certified pathway, with support and training opportunities.
