The role is within the Contract Management Team, who are primarily responsible for the effective management of five Private Finance Initiative (PFI) school projects. These are some of the most popular schools in Sheffield, and there is a mix of academy and local authority-maintained secondary and primary schools. The team manages 5 school PFI contracts, which cover 16 schools across Sheffield. We are part of the Council’s wider Finance & Commercial Service. One of these contracts is entering the expiry phase in a couple of years, so the opportunity to learn and be part of a fast paced area of work will be advantageous to someone keen to be involved and engaged in this project.
We are seeking someone who can work using their own initiative to plan, organise, and prioritise their workload and also manage team members where required. You will be responsible for leading the operational delivery, management, and coordination of two of these facility management contracts and also be involved in the other school contracts.
You will work with both internal and external clients to deliver the best value while maintaining compliance with the individual contract obligations. Having good analytical skills and the ability to interpret contracts and communicate effectively is a key requirement for this role.
With strong property FM skills and a background in contract management, you will be skilled at working with a wide range of stakeholders to develop and deliver FM and contract management strategies. Commercial acumen and the ability to negotiate while seeing the bigger picture are key qualities for success.

8. Annual salary progression
Full-time employees work 37 hours per week, and we offer a generous holiday entitlement, 26 days plus bank holidays rising to 31 days per year after 5 years’ service.
Although we offer hybrid working, the successful candidate will need to ensure they can attend in-person meetings in Sheffield, usually in our centrally based offices, and across the city when attending school meetings or conducting performance reviews and audits. All meetings are during standard working hours. The successful candidate may also be expected to be in the office 4-5 days a week initially, as part of the induction process. Site visits and/or face-to-face meetings with clients, suppliers, or partners are required as part of this role.
