Reporting to the Elastomers Application Development Manager, this position is principally lab-based to support the team’s activities in innovation projects, customer support and generation of technical marketing data. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The following responsibilities are associated with this job role but are not limited to: ·To observe legislative, safety, and environmental requirements of the Warrington site. ·To prepare and characterize polyurethane elastomer products (including cast elastomers, thermoplastic PU elastomers and others) derived from Capa polyols in the laboratory. This will encompass both routine work and optionally some method development studies. To carry out application testing (reactivity, viscosity, etc.) of elastomers and associated intermediates. To support the Development Chemist, where necessary, on the day-to-day operation of the Elastomers Application Lab including implementation of lab requests, maintaining stock inventory and ensuring continuous operation of lab equipment. To take part in other activities in the Capa™ Innovation Lab, e.g. Capa® polyol sample preparation, new product design and process development projects, as dictated by the work program. Excellent organization, prioritization and Task management skills – scheduling of work Strong interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude Creative and collaborative mind-set with an open-minded attitude Excellent report writing and presentation skills QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE A BSc or MSc degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or related discipline. Preferred but not essential: Experience with polyurethane chemistry Experience in an industrial polymer development laboratory Experience of working in a chemical laboratory. Experience of analytical, physical and application testing of polymeric materials.
