Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Communications & Website Content Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a natural born communicator and a passionate runner, understanding the needs and desires at different stages of people’s journeys. This role involves overseeing customer service inquiries, ensuring RT websites are accurate and high quality, being able to work with WordPress (and ideally HTML/CSS) website systems, managing crisis communications during event issues, facilitating smooth internal communications, and becoming an active voice within the RunThrough community online, including the Facebook community. The Communications & Website Manager will be at the forefront of engaging with and monitoring public discussions, “living and breathing” communication with our audience and community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Customer Service Oversight: Manage and respond to all customer service inquiries, ensuring that responses are prompt, accurate, and professional, providing top-notch service to participants and stakeholders.
* Website Content Accuracy: Oversee and ensure the accuracy of communications related to events on all websites, including race information guides, race info emails, website content, and social media updates, ensuring all participants have the most up-to-date information.
* Crisis Communications: Lead crisis communication efforts during unforeseen issues, such as event delays or participant concerns, drafting clear messages, coordinating with relevant teams, and providing timely updates to participants.
* Internal Communication: Manage the flow of information within the business, ensuring timely and clear communication of key event updates, announcements, and changes to internal teams. Serve as the main point of contact for internal requests that need to be passed on to the marketing team.
* Reputation Management: Address any participant concerns or complaints quickly and professionally, ensuring the company’s reputation remains positive, particularly in high-stress situations or when handling major event-related issues.
* Event Communications: Ensure that event-related announcements, updates, and communications are clearly conveyed to participants, sponsors, and partners. Manage the flow of pre- and post-event messaging to maintain engagement and clarity.
* Community Engagement: Actively engage with the RunThrough community, particularly in online forums like the Facebook community. Monitor public discussions, provide timely responses, and create a welcoming, positive space for participants to interact with the brand.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in a communications, public relations, or related field.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to make edits on WordPress websites.
* Ability to manage crisis situations effectively and calmly.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects at once.
Preferred Skills:
* A personal interest in running and participation in running events.
* Ability to relate to runners’ needs and communicate from their perspective.
* Familiarity with communication tools (e.g., email marketing platforms, CMS, social media).
* Experience in the sports or events industry is a bonus but not required.
* A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a passion for delivering clear, accurate, and timely information.
* Comfortable with social media engagement and online community management.
Note: Weekend event attendance is required.
