Business Development Manager
Location: Remote / Scotland / North England
Salary: Competitive basic + Company Car + Commission
Role Description
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in representing the company at all levels, engaging with clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders. This role requires a proactive individual who can contribute to the development and implementation of the company’s strategic business model, driving product sales and marketing activities. A strong background in the marine sector is preferable.
Responsibilities
• Increase the Company’s revenue from regional, national and international customer accounts in line with the Company’s sales budget requirements through the development of customer, supplier and stakeholder relationships.
• Provide excellent customer service, competitor insight and a value based approach to selling the Company’s products and compliance based solutions in line with industry governing standards.
• Devise, present and execute sales plans with demonstrable influence based on resource availability, comprehensive sales analysis and reporting.
• be a role model in sales disciplines and conduct to the rest of the organisation; and to mentor, coach and support subordinate area sales managers and other personnel.
• Liaise with personnel both internally and externally to achieve the Company’s objectives in an efficient manner and in accordance with the Company’s quality and environmental management systems.
Requirements
• Possess a good level of intellect and general educational standard (numerate and literate).
• Industry and vocational knowledge — an awareness of chain and associated products would be an advantage in understanding the Company's product portfolio and service capability, competitor offerings and trading circumstances.
• Negotiation and sales skills — capable of influencing decision-making, account management, qualifying business, closing transactions, and establishing harmonious relationships with customers, suppliers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
• Management skills — ability and willingness to make informed decisions, seek advice when needed or appropriate, instruct, guide and motivate self, senior and subordinate personnel.
• ICT skills and computer literate with knowledge of software programmes used by the Company including Microsoft Office, Sage 200, HubSpot (for CRM), and the ability to use social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
• Communication skills —good written, verbal and presentation skills, and ability to listen to other speakers.
• Core skills — conscientious worker, focussed on performance and results, good team player, organised / structured, enthusiastic, determined, honest and trustworthy.
• Possess and maintain a full UK driving licence.
