Director of Music
OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Director of Music to join our staff team at Hatherop Castle School. Music plays a significant part in the broad and balanced curriculum we offer and we are looking for a skilled, passionate and forward-thinking teacher to promote music and the performing arts across the whole school.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate creativity, innovation, an enthusiasm for all visual arts, excellent communication skills, and a passion for inspiring our pupils.
This is an exciting opportunity which, for the right candidate, could lead to becoming Director of Performing Arts providing leadership and oversight of all Performing Arts at Hatherop Castle.

Job Description:
Following the retirement of our current Director of Music, a vacancy has arisen for a Director of Music at Hatherop Castle School. We are looking for a talented, creative and passionate musician to inspire, enthuse and teach music throughout the school from Nursery to Prep 8.
The successful candidate will encourage pupils to be ambitious about music and the performing arts in general. They will be confident, driven, and passionate about teaching children and will also be organised, committed, and professional, driven by delivering high-quality provision and leading by example. You must be willing to work as part of a team and be prepared to promote the subject with staff, parents, and pupils.
This is an exciting opportunity as there is plenty of scope to develop music, drama, and the performing arts at the school. While experience of teaching music is expected, we are looking for a creative individual who has the ability to promote and teach music and the performing arts with a variety of methods.
Person Specification:
* Degree (or equivalent qualification) in music or a related subject with teaching qualifications.
* Substantial experience of, and demonstrable passion for, teaching music in a school setting across the required age ranges.
* Artistic integrity and the ability to inspire the musical life of the whole school, with pupils of all abilities, leading with vision and energy.
* Competent to teach and lead choirs or musical rehearsals and performances from the keyboard.
* Demonstrable skills in voice, keyboard and possibly one other instrument.
* A thorough understanding of current developments in music education.
* Good ICT skills and knowledge of the use of technology within music education.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with both children and adults.
