We are looking to recruit a Flood Management and Project Officer for our Flood Risk Management team based at the Guilden Sutton Highways Depot on the outskirts of Chester.
Working within the Council's Transport and Highways Service, the successful candidate will provide technical expertise and assist in the delivering the responsibilities of the Lead Local Flood Authority to reduce flood risk and ensure the Service fulfils its statutory obligations and meets the wider corporate aims and objectives of the Council.

A permanent opportunity has arisen to work within the Flood Risk Management Team. The role of the Flood Management and Project Officer will be taking on a lead role of the duties placed upon the Council by statutory legislation to reduce the risk of flooding to residents, businesses, and infrastructure within the borough.
Typical duties include:
Carry out site investigations, feasibility studies and prepare technical reports and make recommendations relating to flood risk management across the borough.
Work in partnership with other local authorities and external organisations in connection with flood risk management to ensure the views of all interested parties are considered.
Prepare funding bids for flood risk management activities to maximise use of Flood Defence Grants and other funding streams.
Take a lead role with the development of the asset management register of drainage, SuDS, and flood risk assets throughout the borough.
Manage and determine applications for land drainage consents and update and maintain a register of consented works.
Assist with the responses to consultations on planning applications and provide advice to the planning authority and developers regarding the flood risk associated with new developments.
We are looking for a person who is keen, forward thinking, ability to multi-task, excellent communication and has experience, skills, and knowledge within Flood Risk Management.
