White Label is representing an established engineering business in the Sheffield area that has a requirement for a Lead Engineer to join their team.
The role of the Lead Engineer will involve the management of a team of 8-10 Design Engineers as well as taking a design project from the table through to detailed design and manufacture. The role will be split around 50/50 in terms of people management and being hands-on with engineering work.
The types of projects you will be involved with will span over 4-5 years and be valued in the 10–30-million-pound range.
Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer
1. Safety, including solution safety, ensuring compliance with company policies and HSE Regulations.
2. Leadership of the engineering delivery team within the project group towards outcomes in a motivational and effective way encouraging mutual trust and respect.
3. Ensure customer satisfaction by placing high emphasis on customer care for both external and internal customers.
4. Financial performance, achieve revenue, profit and cash in line with targets.
5. Overall technical solution in line with contractual requirements.
6. Delivery performance, on time, within budget, at the right quality, and safely. (TCQS)
7. Contract scope management and contract variations with commercial support.
8. Comply with our certified BMS (PMI).
9. Timely reporting of financial forecasting, and data availability/accuracy.
10. Be a role model of our values.
11. Flexibility to carry out other responsibilities associated with the Engineering Leader position.
Experience required of the Lead Engineer
1. You’ll need to have a minimum of 20 years of experience in engineering roles with ideally 5 years or more of that being in management positions.
2. Experience leading projects from cradle to grave.
3. Experience management projects valued in the multi-millions.
4. Experience in Heavy Engineering, Mechanical Handling, Material Handling or similar would be an advantage.
5. Must be hands-on and be able to motivate and drive a team.
Package/Salary
1. A salary of £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience.
2. 37.5 per week Monday to Friday – we are flexible on start and finish times to accommodate commutes etc, but the standard hours are 8:45 to 5:00 pm.
3. Holidays – 25 + 8 bank holidays.
