Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated Library and Learning Resource Centre (LLRC) Facilitator to join the team at HMP Portland.
This is a part-time position, working 22.2 hours per week.
Day to day duties
Develop positive working relationships and liaise regularly with curriculum staff, HMPPS and other partners ensuring that the LLRC meets the needs of the prison population.
Work Collaboratively with the curriculum team to embed the use of the LLRC within teaching, learning and assessment.
Extend learning and literacy beyond the classroom by working with the curriculum team and partners to develop, implement and support reading and learning experiences across the prison.
Required skills and qualifications
A good level of technical ability and competent user of technology.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
About HMP Portland
HMP Portland is an adult male prison and young offender institution (YOI) on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, for men aged 18 and over. Residents can train and earn qualifications in professions such as bricklaying, painting and decorating and carpentry and joinery. Other courses offered include functional skills, PSD and music. Portland residents have the opportunity to leave the prison for short periods of time, this is known as ROTL (release on temporary licence) which can be used to gain work experience in the local community and prepare them for release.
